NAIDOC WEEK ANNUAL FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

Moonee Valley City Council invites you to our annual NAIDOC Week Flag Raising Ceremony and cultural celebration. NAIDOC week is a time to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, so come along and celebrate with us!
What’s on
Join Wurundjeri Elder, Aunty Diane Kerr as she performs a Welcome to Countryand Smoking Ceremony in recognition of NAIDOC Week and hear from our Mayor Samantha Byrne.
There will also be cultural activities for all ages to enjoy including:
- Aunty Gail Smith and her granddaughter Tienna will host Storytime and read from the series of children’s nursery rhyme books in Woi-wurrung language.
- Yarn Strong Sista’s will be hosting an art experience including bush bouquet making, face and arm painting and bush tucker cake making.

- 10.15am – Storytime reading with Aunty Gail
- 11am – Flag Raising Ceremony. Cultural activities will take place after the ceremony.
